Pīngao, or golden sand sedge is a native sand binding grass and helps to build our dunes.
After harvesting the grasses they have been washed, sorted and dried. During drying time the colour changes from a bright green to this beautiful sunny yellow.
This sculpture has been carefully constructed to be hung on a wall (inside). Because of its light weight it is easy to mount with 2 nails.
It can be dusted with a stick duster or soft brush.
Size about 1200mm x 800mm
NOTE This pīngao has been harvested on an overgrown private property and kindly given as koha to me and other weavers in my community.
