Pīngao, or golden sand sedge, is a native sand-binding grass that helps shape and stabilise our coastal dunes. After harvesting, the grasses were washed, sorted, and left to dry. During this time their bright green hue slowly transformed into this beautiful sunny yellow.
This sculpture has been carefully crafted to hang indoors. Because of its light weight, it can be easily mounted with just two nails. It can be gently dusted with a stick duster or soft brush.
Approximate size: 1200mm x 800mm
Note: This pīngao was harvested from an overgrown private property and gifted (koha) to me and fellow weavers in my community
