Twining (in Māori tāniko) is an ancient hand weaving technique that doesn't require any tools and can be done with a vast variety of materials, man made or natural. Join me for a day of learning how to start, twine and finish your own little vessel.
In this workshop we are using cotton string that is easy to handle and doesn't need any preparation. We will also talk about what other materials and fibres are suitable for twining and other ways of adding to your vessel (such as paint and wax).
After this workshop you will be able to experiment with other materials and forms.
This workshop is suitable for absolute beginners with no previous weaving experience.
All materials provided. Refreshments are provided, please bring your own lunch (no cafe or shops nearby).
