This one day workshop is an introduction to traditional raranga harakeke.
We will go through every step to weave a kono (small basket) starting from learning about tikanga (protocol) in context of weaving with harakeke.
You will learn how to harvest harakeke and prepare the whenu for weaving and I will guide you through all steps to finish your very first kono.
This workshop is suitable for absolute beginners with no previous weaving experience. I am teaching this workshop in a small group of maximal four people, to ensure you get the attention you need to complete your kono.
After the workshop you will receive a handout (as pdf) with further information including karakia and kupu (words) related to weaving.
All materials and tools are provided, all you need to bring is a towel and your lunch.
