Pīngao is a grass and endemic to New Zealand. It is very precious and protected as it helps to strengthen the dunes in coastal areas. This pīngao has been donated to me and is not taken from the dunes.
The colour changes from bright green to bright yellow when it dries and keeps this colour even when exposed to direct sunlight.
It is reasonably light and can be mounted with small nails.
